Three Ways To Show Yourself Grace After Christmas

Christmas is now over.
If you had a joyful and happy gathering, that’s wonderful!
If you are feeling bad about your Christmas celebrations, this is for you.
If you are judging yourself for how you ate.
If you are thinking of restricting to make up for what you ate.
If you are thinking of exercising more to make up for what you ate.
If you are promising to be “good” from today and only eat a little.
If you are thinking, “I’ll start again in January.”
If you are blaming yourself and shaming yourself for what you ate, how much you ate or how you ate.
Stop and remember:
No matter what your eating has been like over the last few days, you still deserve to eat food you love and enjoy.
It’s normal to overeat at holidays and other days.
You do not need to compensate for your eating by restricting or over-exercising.
No amount of shaming, judging or blaming will be helpful.
Here are three ways to let go of the guilt and shame and treat yourself with the kindness you deserve:
- Nourish (instead of punish) yourself.
- Just let it all go or if that’s too hard, as best you can, let it be.
- Treat yourself and your body with kindness by checking in to what you need in the next few days.
